The Honorable Wizard
By Noe Reyes
There was once an honorable wizard who sunk five ships with just a flick of his wrist. The story goes that one day he was in the king’s castle and suddenly the queen got very ill. The king got very worried and he blamed the sudden happenings on the wizard. So the wizard fled the king’s castle and went to a small town to think things through. He thought that he couldn’t turn himself in or he might be hanged, so he decided to leave forever. He got on a boat that he borrowed from a friend of his and he set sail for a new life. The king knowing that an honorable person would turn himself in, sent five ships after the honorable wizard.
The wizard was fast asleep until he heard cannon from a ship. When he looked up, he saw the king’s five ships shooting at him! The wizard cast a protecting spell on himself, but the spell broke with two hits of cannon balls. The cannon continued to fire and finally hit the wizard’s ship. It started to sink. Even though his ship was sinking, he didn’t want to do what he was thinking…sinking the five ships. So instead the wizard looked for a life boat that was in the back of his ship. As soon as he found it, the cannons started to fire at the wizard again. The first one hit the life boat. Now the wizard was angry!
He started to mumble words. They sounded like crazy man words and old sayings. Then soon the sky was covered in dark gray clouds with lighting striking out and thunder roaring louder than a than thousand lions. The crew on the five ships got horrified that in a matter of seconds the sky turned dark and filled with ominous clouds. Then the wizard, with his eyes white with power, put up his arms and just flicked his wrist. Soon loud cracks started to be heard everywhere and then everything went quiet… everything and everyone. The cracks came from the sky. Then CRACK! All of the ships split in half and lighting struck around them preventing anyone from escaping. The crew on the five ships were lost never to be found again.
The wizard went back to the king’s castle and cured the queen, even though he didn’t cause the illness. Before the king and the queen could say anything the honorable wizard was gone… never to be seen again.
