My Trip to
Canada
It was a bright and sunny morning; my mother was still doing last minute packing while I was still brushing my teeth. I had barely changed my clothes when everyone was getting into the car. I was doing my best to not think about the breakfast I had just missed. Everybody in my house was in a hurry, while I was the slug bug. The reason why is because my whole family was going to take a trip to Canada. Some of my family members from my mom side live there. My dad thought maybe we should pay them a visit. I was not up for this idea. My dad had told me to hurry up because it was time to leave. The problem was that I did not want to go to Canada.
I had so many things on my mind: what if no one liked me? What if I make a horrible mistake or an accident happens because of me? I had no choice at all. We drove for miles and miles until it became 11:30 and my dad needed to stop driving so we could sleep at the hotel. I was tired, but I should not be the one to talk. My dad was exhausted and his eyes were filled with weariness.
Tomorrow was the day, and out of everyone in my family I was the unenthusiastic one. We arrived in Canada in the afternoon, and it took us two hours to get our passports checked. I was fatigued again, and I wanted to go to sleep but my parents said we would be at our destination in an hour. I looked around at my siblings, seeing how excited they were made me jealous. How could they not worry about what my cousins, aunts, and uncles thought about them?
Then the car stopped in front of a small but a pleasant looking house. We had achieved our destination. Then just out of nowhere a young teen appeared in front of our car. My mom stepped out of the car and gave her a hug, and I thought who was she? My mom had informed us to get out of the car. She introduced us to the girl saying that her name was Mariam, and she was my mom’s oldest niece. I came into the house and the second thing that was presented to me was candy. People were throwing candy at us because of our arrival. Young kids swarmed around our feet for the candy. I wanted to do it too but I wouldn’t want people to think bad about me.
I gave my grandma a warm hug because she was the only one in the house I recognized. Other people gave my siblings and me a hug as well. They looked so alike to my mother, knowing that these people must be my mom’s sisters. We sat down for dinner, and I noticed that there were not that many girls sitting down eating dinner. I was told by my mother that there were some girls my age that I would be able to hang out with.
After dinner I went upstairs to change into new clothes, and that’s when I saw some more girls. They were sitting in one room talking and whispering with one another. I just knew they were talking about me .They must of saw me looking at them because they stopped talking. They came out of the room looking at me. There were four of them, and only one of me. My heart was pounding, what were they going to do to me? My heart was pounding; I knew it was a bad idea to come here. They looked at me so strange; I couldn’t blame them I was rolled up like an armadillo.
“What are you doing? “said one of the girls.
I looked up and saw that these people weren’t going to hurt me. They had wide, but kind smiles. Their laughter was pleasant and cool. They each introduced themselves to me, and I introduced myself to them. We soon started talking and hanging out. There were so many things that I had in common with them.
I had no worry at all. The rest of the trip was amusing, plus delightful.
