The Sailor and the Vase
By Eva Pasion
Once there was a sailor who lived on a ship with lots of expensive things he got while traveling. Many of these things were gifts he had given to his butler, maid and mom who lived on the ship with him. The sailor enjoyed giving things to people. It made him pleased.
The sailor also had a tennis court on his ship, but he was very bad at tennis. One day, the sailor wanted his butler to watch him play tennis with his mom. When the butler and the mom had to go somewhere, it made the generous sailor mad. He didn’t like to be alone. The sailor threw the tennis ball in anger. The ball bounced off the ceiling and bounced and hit an expensive vase. He tried to catch it, but it was too late. Crash!
The sailor had an idea. He would make a new vase out of paper and plastic. He was very good at crafts. When the sailor was finished with the vase he put it back in the same spot as before. He didn’t want the butler or his mom to find out he broke the vase. The sailor was embarrassed that he had a temper.
After everything was back in place, it was finally time to go play tennis. While the sailor was playing tennis, the maid went to go clean up the room. The maid found the broken vase and put it in a bag to show the butler after the tennis game. The sailor had a enjoyable time playing tennis and had totally forgotten about breaking the vase. When they came in from tennis the maid showed to butler the vase and he was very upset. Seeing what was going on, and knowing he might get in trouble, the sailor went to tell the truth. He told the butler he would be happy to pay for it. Even though it was $30,000 plus tax, he knew it was the right thing to do.
